Living by Loving

Bună ziua!!

There's been an unexpected turn of events that allows me to be sitting here on this Autumn afternoon writing to you to tell you that I'm returning to Romania. I expected after arriving home at the beginning of August that it would be a significant period of time before I would be able to travel back to Eastern Europe. I was supposed to be finding a job and starting work and keeping my head down...that's not really me though, is it? I'll fill you in...

I spent a month in France working in a surf hostel in Biarritz. It wasn't the most taxing job I've ever had...but it was great to be in the ocean every day! Then I managed to get an interview in Edinburgh followed by a job offer which doesn't begin until early December. My parents were planning to go to Sighisoara for a week and it seemed to be an opportunity that I should embrace. It wasn't something I had planned or considered as an option but sometimes God presents you with a set circumstances that allow you to just say yes! So I did. And so on the weekend I am off to Romania for the second time this year. And I am very excited about it!

Project Romania works the Romani Gypsy community in central Romania. They are involved in providing physical essentials such as building houses, feeding programmes, supplying toiletries and clothes, education classes and medical clinics. Most importantly they build relationships with the people and teach them about who God is and His love for them.

So it's back to London on Saturday and then an early morning flight on Sunday to Romania. There are eight of us going. Half of the team is my family. So that'll be a whole new experience for everyone. We will meet for the first time as a team on Sunday morning. The whole team, not just my family, we've met. I am looking forward to working together as a new team. I unfortunately don't have many details on what we'll be doing other than helping out where Project Romania need eight extra pairs of hands. There are two containers due to arrive and shoeboxes to be sorted alongside the unexpected daily happenings that you are never prepared for...but that's exciting too!

Prayer Points:

  • Safe travel back to Romania
  • Willingness to serve with whatever needs to be done
  • To be an encouragement to Norman and Linda
  • Unity in the team of people going as meeting in the airport at 06:00 on Sunday will be our first time together!
  • To show God's love to the people of Romania
Here's a few photos of the people and where they live that we took over summer....I often find a picture can explain so much better than I ever could.

Now off to pack! And hope you enjoy the journey to Romania with me! Here goes...
