This afternoon we headed out to Seleus for a feeding program. After a day of rain yesterday it was a slippery mud hill. We were so grateful that many of the children came wearing their new shoes given out last week. It was still a somber occasion knowing that many hadn't eaten in a couple of days. And that in a European country there are still children who do not have food to eat on a daily basis.
We had cooked additional pasta so were able to feed some of the mothers too. There was opportunity to practice some of my key phrases too. No pushing! And make a line! I love seeing the kids, kicking a football/plastic bottle around with them, swinging them round, having thumb wars and just laughing together. Although this is great, temporary laughter and joy is nothing in comparison to having the joy given by Jesus Christ. As time passes and relationships are built up, pray that the long term workers will really be able to invest in their spiritual lives. And that the teams who come out will be able to assist in showing love and compassion.
Another couple of people have come to collect resources for their churches and ministries. The store is emptying slowly but surely!
We also began sorting the shoeboxes into schools!
And sorted a few more shoes. The biggest and most intense game of matching pairs I have ever played.
Now that the team have left the girls have stepped up their building game. Not really. We've helped a bit but once we've had a couple of shots at each tool we're done for the day! We've gotten expert in passing tiles though.
And the roof is on!
My time in Romania is going well. Prayer requests,
- the gypsy communities would be radically and supernaturally transformed with the Gospel
-health as I've been dosed with the cold the last few days
-strength and energy to be enthusiastic and keep going
- love and compassion for the people
-safe travels for Natalie as she's currently on route
