Surprise!!! I've got news...I'm still in Romania. My plans were not His plans and so I will be here until December 7th. Very excited to be staying on, less excited about the fact I packed 4 days of clothes! But, I will definitely more than cope with what I have and shall learn to be content with less :)
This afternoon we went up to Seleus village and it just hit me afresh the harshness of the lifestyle that they lead.
A young child cutting sticks with an axe...
Older siblings left to look after the younger ones...
Bare feet...
A family of 8 living on two beds...
Matted hair and runny noses...
Still with summer clothes...
Houses that are not adequate...
Two deflated footballs with a pump that doesn't work...
Dirty clothes...
Water for washing, animals, drinking, sewage disposal...
And then yesterday going to Septre Noiembrie (Nov 7)...
The family pig, if you're fortunate enough to have one...
Cramped conditions...
Boys playing on the edge of a quarry...
The toilet...
Some of the initial houses built by Project Romania...
One of the houses that needs work done...
The grim reality of their lives is difficult to understand until you see it for yourself. The privileges we have are beyond these communities wildest imaginations. To turn on a tap and have clean water. To have a wardrobe of clothes allowing you to choose an outfit. To have a bedroom per child. To have heat. To have food on the table. To even have a table. To have medication when we're sick. To have education for our children. To have anything and everything accessible to us because 'we deserve it and have a right to it!' So do the people of Romania. And yet many of them lack everything in the list. Please do join in prayer that a real difference can be made through Project Romania who believe and trust that God's power can change these communities.
